NPPF 55 Design

We are developing an Eco house design that both sits into and utilises the earth it is built on. The crescent shaped form has been designed and oriented to accord with the sun and the shapes inherent in the hills to the immediate South. This enables the use of and shelter from the sun’s heating energy.

A green grassed south facing roof slope has been incorporated in the design with a small proportion of copper clad roof slope to enable rainwater harvesting.

Photovoltaic panels have been oriented to follow the lines of the roof.

Use of onsite materials including rammed chalk construction for the main walls, unfired bricks for internal and trombe walls, locally sourced timber and re-use of top soil for the grassed roof.
